On 22 September 2026, the LaiQa Project successfully held its Project Monitoring Review Meeting online, bringing together the project consortium and the European Commission’s reviewers to assess the project’s progress, achievements and next steps.
During the meeting, LaiQa partners presented the work carried out across the project’s different technical activities, highlighting progress in the development of key technologies for space-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and secure quantum communications. The presentations covered advances in areas such as entangled photon-pair sources, quantum memories, adaptive optics, photonic integration, secure key rate (SKR) calculation tools and QKD system demonstrations.
The review also provided an opportunity to discuss the evolution of the project’s research activities, the integration of individual technological developments and their contribution to LaiQa’s overall objective: enabling critical components and technologies for future global quantum communication networks.
The meeting concluded with a constructive exchange between the reviewers and consortium members, providing valuable feedback and guidance for the continuation of the project.
